Guru Purnima significance
◆ Guru Purnima is the most sacred festival day in the Indian spiritual tradition. According to the scriptures, the day on which the Lord graciously granted His direct vision (darshan) to a human being for the very first time on earth is said to be Sri Guru Purnima. It is the most auspicious day in the year for receiving the grace of the Mahaa Guru. It is considered the beginning of spiritual rebirth in a disciple's life.
◆ Guru Purnima is the day that stands as a symbol of devotion to the Guru, gratitude, self-inquiry, and spiritual consciousness. On this day, by expressing gratitude to the Guru with devotion and reverence — remembering the Guru, offering prostrations at the Guru's feet, meditation, chanting the Guru mantra, recitation of the Guru Gita, offering food (annadaanam), and performing various such Guru-dharma services — the scriptures declare that one attains the Guru's grace, wisdom (jnana), peace of mind, courage, prosperity, and spiritual progress.
◆ Guru Purnima is that wondrous day on which a person, spending time in the Guru's presence and engaging in Guru seva activities, can — through Sri Guru's grace — correct their time, transform their life, refine their path, and change the very course of their journey.
The Guru is the one who dispels the darkness of ignorance and lights the flame of wisdom…
The Guru's grace is what bestows peace upon a troubled mind…
The Guru's path is what shows direction to life…
